Jonah adopted his original moniker, Nero, while hosting his first show on a small-town college radio station as "Nero's Dance Apocalypse" in 1999 playing mostly house and some newer club vinyl, he reinvented the show briefly for the Portland Radio Authority years later in 2006. He also organized his hometown's first "rave", much to the chagrin of the local law enforcement. It's always been house, progressive, tech-house, tribal, beats and melody with Jonah. His DJ selections tend to be true to the progressive dance music ideology of playing good music together without concentrating on genre or a particular sound. It's more about integration, and story-telling. His music has received support from dozens of DJs spanning various genres including Taucher, Jondi & Spesh, Sultan, LeMonier, and consistently floods Sasha's track-hounds with submissions. He's opted to leave John alone. Jonah has been signed to Looq Records, Akashik Records, L2 Music (defunct), Pacific Front Recordings, and promoted his own imprint N:M for a short time. He has collaborated with artists and done a bit of remix work over the years, but generally you'll find his is a sound unique unto itself. No cookie-cutters here. |
